Don't be afraid to attack with shomen uchi and atemi3. When on a ground try to maintain crouching position on a attacker (vs wrestlers, judokas) - when you are on your back, you are usually finished as aikidoka4. Direct techniques are effective - kokyu nage, irimi nage, ikkyo5. When you don't have a hand to lock, throw whole body of opponent6. Train traditional aikido and try some controled sparring with other styles to gain some experience
